The Oldsters Will Soon Strut Their Stuff!

If you have been checking this blog recently, you will have probably guessed that Sailbourne is inactive as a breeding cattery. However, we are hoping that soon we will be able to get back into showing, at least in a limited capacity.

Some CFA clubs offer "veterans class," where cats seven years of age or older compete against each other, regardless of breed. It's mainly for bragging rights, although the region of CFA where I live does offer special awards at the end of the show season. Kyouju, our original Bobtail, turns seven this month. We plan to show him in veterans class shows in the local area starting with the new show season in May.

This should be interesting on several accounts: Kyouju, while in relatively good physical condition, still needs to have that ol' belly flap tightened up a bit. The easiest way to do this is just to get him more exercise. Running and jumping after feather wands or the Evil Red Dot (aka the laser pointer) should take care of this. On the other hand, he will need to get used to being bathed again. Wheeeeeee ....

If we can get through these issues, Kyouju is such a fun and personable cat, he should show quite well. Fingers crossed!

Show Success For Wash!

Wash (aka Senan Heiwa Wash of Sailbourne) achieved his first final -- a 10th Best Kitten -- at the McKenzie River Cat Fanciers show in Eugene, Oregon, this past weekend. This was Wash's third show, and despite being a bit cranky because of a grooming accident, he made a very good account of himself.

His next show will be in five weeks, and will mark his debut as an adult, in Premiership (alter) class.

I am attempting to earn a Grand Premier title for Wash before retiring him and offering him as a pet. If anyone is interested in adopting him, and would like to try the world of cat shows, Wash would be a great cat to start with. Please contact me if you would like more information!

Meet Wash -- Available Now!

This is Wash, born August 14, 2004 and available to go to a new home now. He is one of the sweetest, friendliest kittens it's ever been my pleasure to raise, and would make a wonderful addition to any family. I am asking $300 for him.

Inara and Wendy Travel to Wisconsin

Wendy and one of her kittens, Inara (the first of the Firefly litter) have traveled to Wisconsin. They are returning to the home of Nancy Sproelich of Senan Cattery, where Wendy originally came from. She will remain with Nancy for a year or two, being bred while I have the cattery on sabbatical.

I owe Nancy a huge thanks for her kind offer to take Wendy back (at her own expense!) and co-own her with me, thus preserving her as a breeding queen. Otherwise, I would have had to spay Wendy, and she's been such a great mom with such pretty kittens, that would be a shame.

Of the remaining four kittens, one will go to Marianne Clark of Kurisumasu Cattery in return for the services of CH Kurisumasu Shanpen as father of this litter. Zoe is committed to a new home, where she'll go in December. Kaylee and Wash are still available. I'll be posting their pictures here shortly.
